Review by John Edens

Shattered Reality's self-titled album, "Shattered Reality," is a captivating collection of alternative rock tracks that showcases the band's unique sound and style. The album is a blend of powerful guitar riffs, driving drum beats, and emotive vocals that come together to create a dynamic and captivating listening experience.

From the opening track, "Broken Dreams," to the closing song, "Fading Memories," Shattered Reality takes listeners on a journey through their own shattered reality. The lyrics are raw and honest, exploring themes of heartbreak, loss, and the struggle to find oneself in a world that often feels chaotic and unpredictable.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Lost in the Darkness," which features haunting vocals and a powerful guitar solo that builds to an explosive climax. "Shattered Dreams," another standout track, is a driving, high-energy anthem that showcases the band's ability to create catchy, memorable hooks.

About Shattered Reality

Shattered Reality was a metal band in Louisville, KY from 1991-1997. Originally known as Rude Awakening, the lineup consisted of Bill Polk on drums, Mark Huckleberry on guitar, Steve Sawyers on vocals, and Mike Spink on bass. They released two eps; "Rude Awakening" in May 1991, and "Meet Your Maker" in December 1991. Following the departure of guitarist Mark Huckleberry in 1992, the band recruited guitarist Tim Flaherty and changed the band name to Shattered Reality. A self-titled ep was released in December 1993, followed by the full-length "Forget to Remember" in September 1994, and the ep "Into The Blind" in August 1996. Between 1993 and 1996 the band had several different bass players, including Mike Spink, Phil Hebert, Al Chadwell and Paul Kelly. They also added 2nd guitarist JR Perry not long after the release of the "Forget To Remember" album. Before disbanding in 1997, Shattered Reality played many legendary Louisville venues such as The Toy Tiger, Tewligans, Phoenix Hill Tavern, Uncle Pleasants, The Zodiac Club, The KY Center for the Arts, and shared the stage with bands such as Overkill, Souls at Zero, My Own Victim, and Days of the New, among many others.
