Review by Mark Parris

Jerry McCain's album, Red Top Twist 62, is a classic example of rock and roll at its finest. The album features a collection of upbeat and catchy tracks that are sure to get listeners tapping their feet and nodding their heads along to the rhythm.

The album's title track, "Red Top Twist," is a standout with its infectious beat and McCain's soulful vocals. The album also features other notable tracks such as "My Next Door Neighbor," "Steady," and "I'm a Ding Dong Daddy."

McCain's guitar work is impressive throughout the album, and his band provides a solid backing to his vocals. The overall sound is reminiscent of the early days of rock and roll, with a touch of blues and country thrown in for good measure.

One of the standout features of Red Top Twist 62 is the energy and enthusiasm that McCain brings to each track. His passion for the music is evident in every note he plays and every word he sings.

About Jerry McCain

American blues singer and harmonica player, born 18 June 1930 in Gadsden, AL, died 28 March 2012. Jerry McCain was born one of five children and grew up "po' as po' can be" as he puts it. In his teens he earned a regular gig at a local station WETO fronting a jug band with an homemade bass. Jerry was influenced by Little Walter. In fact he met and proceeded to impress the old curmudgeon (then a young curmudgeon) when he covered Walter's "Can't Hold Out Much Longer". His break came when Lillian McMurry of Diamond Recording, Inc heard his demo and was impressed enough to have Jerry cut four sides in October 1953. "Wine O' Wine" and "East Of The Sun" from the session were released on McMurry's Trumpet Records.
